Production Log

There are many different types of music videos that range from narrative videos with storylines such as Taylor Swift's 'Mine' and Katy Perry's 'The one that got away' to more creative videos that may be very effective even though the concept may be simple, such as Bruno Mars's 'The lazy song'.

After considering the different resources that I have available I have come to the conclusion that I could do two different types of videos. The first would be a more traditional video with the artist singing into the camera with a narrative running asewll. This would be used with a song by my friend's band, Tyrants. If I was to use their song, I would not have to worry about copyright issues as I would be able to get their consent in writing easily as the band are not yet signed up to a record label.
The other resource I have is many professional dancers. As a dancer myself, I know many dance groups as well as individual dancers that would be willing to participate in my music video. One of the most interesting videos that I have seen that uses dance in a creative and effective way would have to be P!nk's 'Try' which I have posted below.

I believe this video is more unique than other music videos where dance is the predominant feature as it tells a story through the type of dancing, much like many forms of ballroom dancing. It is more interesting and different than the normal choreographed dance or flash mob as it expresses the passion and meaning behind the lyrics, which is very important in a music video.
